| In order
to develop BARA’s strategy, it is
imperative to link into and enhance existing
local, regional and national strategies
to incorporate a much improved and further
reaching awareness and understanding of
the potential of the South Asian communities.
BARA aims to highlight the passion, desire
and determination amongst South Asians,
to participate and succeed in sport &
physical activities.
A number of action plans have been devised
by BARA, who are currently in discussions
with both rugby governing bodies, for them
to adopt the BARA strategy and to create
a more cohesive working relationship.
Such a highly visible partnership would
influence and encourage a greater interest
and unhindered involvement from the South
Asian communities.
Development, by nature, will be long term
- initiating, sustaining and maintaining.
These are the key ingredients for a successful
outcome as opposed to any short term, sporadic
projects.
As and when the planned activities have
been agreed, details of the action plans
will be made available.
Development
BARA will be rolling out their key development
programme in England, in the summer of 2006
in partnership with the RFU.
Four key areas have been identified: Bradford,
Leeds, Leicester and London. These areas
have a high concentration of diverse South
Asian communities.
The development programmes will be structured
as follows:
- Educational visits to school, mosques,
temples, gurudawas etc in identified areas.
- Schools/After schools/Community development.
- Link into mainstream rugby clubs.
- Educational workshops for teachers,
parents, community members, coaches, match
officials etc.
A full development plan with dates for
the above will appear in this section in
May. If you like to be notified of the dates,
please fill out the following form.
These development programmes will be rolled
out in key areas in Scotland, Ireland and
Wales in the next two years. |
