Five UK rugby players from the British Asian Rugby Association (BARA) have flown back from Hong Kong after playing for the Indian and Pakistani national sides in the 19th Asian Rugby Football Tournament. in establishing links with South Asian rugby partners.

Bradford’s Odsal Stadium was the setting for a reception held in honour of India’s national rugby union squad who are currently touring the UK. Earlier in the day the India team had visited Bradford Grammar School. During their trip the team has been based in Worcestershire and has already played against Coventry and Leicester. The team includes well-known Indian actor Rahul Bose.

Simon Patel of Newcastle, Jug Johal of Scunthorpe, brothers Ben and Gareth Kerr of Newcastle and Amarveer Ladhar of Newcastle flew to India on Friday where they will be playing for the Bombay Gymkhana Club squad. All five players are active members of UK squads (Scunthorpe RFU Club and Newcastle Falcons RFU Club) and of the British Asian Rugby Association (BARA).
