British Asian Rugby Association (BARA) Come Third Equal At The Yorkshire Awards.

BARA has achieved a great deal this year, winning the 72nd All India & South Asia Rugby Union Tournament, held at Bombay Gymkhana in September this year, as well as the Plate Final at the York 9's Rugby League Competition. The Association has also carried out some exemplary work in the community, making inroads into its wider aims of developing sport and developing communities.

Talented sporting stars in Yorkshire and Humber received recognition at the BBC Yorkshire & Sport England Sports Awards. BBC television presenters Christa Ackroyd and Harry Gration, himself a keen sportsman, hosted the glittering ceremony at the National Railway Museumin York.
The Sport England Awards rewarded outstanding personal and team achievements from top-class sporting performers in Yorkshire & Humber. Successful nominees were selected from all parts of the region, with the winners coming from Wakefield, Bradford, Barnsley and Sheffield.
Last night's Awards Ceremony brought together Minister for Sport, Richard Caborn, and world champions and Olympic and Paralympic stars such as Sue Gilroy and Kath Mitton, along with Yorkshire's sporting champions of the future. Many of the Yorkshire youngsters who received awards yesterday hope to represent Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics.
