All Stars Help Charity Get Off The Ground

A new charity entitled "Life for a Kid" held their official launch recently prior to the Bradford Bulls home Super League clash with Hull KR.

The charity, which helps to improve the lives and treatments of children living with medical conditions, also announced its link with many of the rugby league stars of yesteryear by featuring on the shirts of the Great Britain All Stars XIII.

The Great Britain Rugby League All Stars will now feature the "Life for a Kid" logo on the front of their playing shirts for the 2009 season

The new sky blue strip, the charity’s official colour, has been kindly supplied by Rhino Rugby.

Great Britain and Leeds legend Garry Schofield OBE was joined by a host of fellow veterans including Paul Newlove, Jason Critchley, Wayne Jackson, Chico Jackson, Dean Hoggard and Ikram Butt

Glamour Model Cara Brett who is a patron for the charity modelled the shirt on the day.

Also in attendance was rugby league’s latest "Man of Steel" James Graham, a patron for the charity. The St Helens forward kindly donated his World Cup 2008 medal for auction to raise money for the charity.

Another bonus on the day was Bradford Bulls Chairman Peter Hood announcing that the Bradford Bulls Club have selected "Life for a Kid" as one of the club’s selected charities for 2009.

Phil Barker, Assistant Director for Bradford Council’s Leisure Services, was delighted with the launch. Phil commented “We are delighted to welcome the GB All Stars to the Grattan Stadium and City of Bradford and applaud them for supporting such a worthy charity”.

Baby George Gibson from Huddersfield was recently helped with £1,000 donation towards having a star band fitted for his condition and he attended the launch with his parents.

BARA (British Asian Rugby Association) Managing Director Ikram Butt, also a patron for the charity. commented “This event would not of been possible without the tremendous support of the Bradford Bulls, Phil Barker and Bradford Council and together they’ve ensured that the launch was a huge success.”
